Young Author (KM)

The Young Authors and Artists Conference, co-sponsored by the Kettle Moraine School District and the Milwaukee Art Museum, has been a source of inspiration and a platform for more than 15,000 talented students for over 35 years. Students ranging from third to 12th grade spend a day immersed in the company of fellow passionate authors.

Those who register here are reserving a seat on a bus that will leave KM Middle School on Monday, December 4, at 7:45 AM. Those who wish to register but NOT take the bus must find their own transportation and register on the Art of Writing homepage: https://www.artofwritingconference.com/ 

Because the conference is co-sponsored by the Kettle Moraine School District, 62 seats have been reserved for KM authors. Seats will be filled on a first come, first served basis. To secure your seat, please follow the provided links.

Registration includes museum admission, snacks, lunch, the invaluable opportunity to be surrounded by some of the most passionate young authors and artists in the area, an Open House admission for the student and family in the spring, and a family admission ticket that may be used at a later date.

During the conference, young authors embark on a museum tour in search of a piece of art that inspires them to create their own written piece. They receive constructive feedback from their peers and a facilitator and are given time to revise their pieces.

In the spring, students and their families return to the museum to share their inspiration, reconnect with group members, and celebrate their work.

This program brings together young people from diverse schools and backgrounds who share a profound love for writing and art. The conference serves as a platform for students to learn, collaborate, and find inspiration from the museum's world-class art.
