About the event

The Young Authors and Artists Conference, spanning over 30 years, has been a source of inspiration and a platform for more than 15,000 talented students at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Students ranging from third to 12th grade spend a day immersed in the company of fellow passionate authors and artists.

With the conference co-sponsored by the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Kettle Moraine School District, KM has reserved 88 seats on two buses. Seats are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  If your child does NOT plan to take the bus, please follow this LINK to register. This option does not reserve a seat on the KM bus, allowing a spot for another student who needs transportation to the art museum.

This registration includes transportation to and from KM Middle School (students who do NOT attend KMMS are expected to find their own transportation to the middle school), museum admission, snacks, lunch, and the invaluable opportunity to be surrounded by some of the most passionate young authors and artists in the area.

Young Author registration is open to students in grades 3-12.

Sketch Artist registration is ONLY open for grades 6-12.

Photography registration is ONLY open for grades 6-12.

3-D Art registration is ONLY open to students in grades 9-12.

During the conference, young artists embark on a museum tour in search of a piece of art that inspires them to create their own work. They receive constructive feedback from their peers and are given time to revise their art.

In the spring, students and their families return to the museum to share their inspiration and celebrate their own art.

This program brings together young people from around the state who share a profound love for art. The conference serves as a platform for students to learn, collaborate, and find inspiration from the museum's world-class art.

The conference is proudly sponsored by the Kettle Moraine School District in partnership with the Milwaukee Art Museum.
