Teacher Expectations

• Schools and districts must send one teacher for every five registered students, with teachers attending free of charge.
• Teachers will lead small groups of authors or artists from various regions throughout the day. To encourage broader collaboration and interaction, teachers will not work with their own students. This arrangement, successful for over 30 years, allows students to engage with peers and teachers from different districts, fostering new perspectives and ideas. It also provides teachers with opportunities to network and share best practices with colleagues outside their usual circles, enhancing the overall learning experience.

• Snacks and lunch
• The invaluable opportunity to be surrounded by passionate young authors and artists

The Day Includes…

• A museum tour where young authors seek inspiration from a piece of art to create their own work
• Constructive feedback sessions with peers
• Time for revision of their work

In the spring, students and their families return to the museum to share their inspirations and celebrate their work. This program unites young people from across the state who share a love for writing and art, providing a platform for learning, collaboration, and inspiration from the museum's world-class art.
